Builders and Contractors Respond On Growing Number of SKUs

With an increasing number of Stock Keeping Units (SKUs) carried by LBM dealers, whether the impact has been positive or negative on pro customers continues to be a topic of interest in the industry.

Principia’s ongoing monthly survey seeks to understand builder and contractor perspectives on SKU proliferation. What we’ve found is nearly half (43%) of respondents report no impact on their business due to rising SKUs in the last 12 months. In addition, the majority of remaining respondents (40%) reported a positive impact. For the most part, builders and contractors are navigating SKU proliferation just fine, with many seeing it as an improvement for their business.
