Residential railing is thriving. Accelerated demand for single family and multifamily housing will occur in outer suburbs and small towns surrounding major metros because of COVID-19. Greater desire for outdoor living space has homeowners looking to spend more money on their decks, porches, and balconies—all of which will spur railing growth.
Multifamily developers are seeing the potential increased consumer demand for balconies: a building feature which had begun falling out of favor. As a result of COVID-19, regardless of the quality of the “view,” developers recognize that by limiting personal outdoor space multifamily living has become more confining and less attractive. Multifamily builders are expected to incorporate more outdoor living space into future design work: a design trend will benefit railing.
